Yes, it’s not an illusion, it’s not some gimmick. The pace of the universe is accelerating.
Well, at least it seemed that way until earlier this week…
Scientists at the world’s biggest physics lab, CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, have suggested that Einstein may be wrong. Everyone that has bet against the wiry haired man since he proposed the theory of relativity has been proven wrong.
“It’s dangerous to lay odds against Einstein,” said Rob Plunkett, a physicist at the Fermilab near Chicago who has tried similar speed-of-light experiments and will now try to test the new findings.
Going faster than the speed of light is something that is just not supposed to happen, according to Einstein’s 1905 special theory of relativity. The speed of light — 186,282 miles per second (299,792 kilometers per second) — has long been considered the cosmic speed limit.
Einstein’s theory proposes that the speed of light is a constant no matter where that energy is traveling. Even Einstein himself was wrong in 1929 when he called his cosmological constant his “biggest blunder.” In 1998, new findings by the High-z Supernova Search Team showed that the universe is accelerating and that in general Einstein’s “blunder” wasn’t a mistake. They studied a super nova by the name of “one-A”. This info was backed up in 1999 by the The Supernova Cosmology Project.
Everything is going too fast already, right?…
“The accelerating universe is the observation that the universe appears to be expanding at an increasing rate, which in formal terms means that the cosmic scale factor a(t) has a positive second derivative, implying that the velocity at which a given galaxy is receding from us should be continually increasing over time.”
That is a mouthful that blows the mind!
When you feel that you have to be more than one place at the same time, when multiple people are groping for your attention, when there is more to do than hours in the day, you’re right. And it’s just accelerating!
So the revolution in electronics and semi conductors with iPhones and androids, iPads and tablets is just a symptom of the acceleration. Many of the world’s inhabitants carry a small computer around with them watching movies or playing games, texting or calling friends. Look at the change at Facebook this past week and the uproar it has caused. And the change just gets quicker!
And if that’s not enough to turn you on your head then realize that as the universe expands something called dark matter begins to dominate more and more of our space. Let the Adventure begin!
